5 of the 20 questions...

Here are my answers to the first 5 of the 20 questions Simple Mom has listed as a reflection on the past year. Head over there for all 20 to ponder for yourself...

1. What was the single best thing that happened this past year?

The birth of my grandson!

2. What was the single most challenging thing that happened?

Back in April, following and watching the 2nd nodule grow inside my lung, exhausting all the second opinions on treatment, and coming to the conclusion that surgery was the only option.

3. What was an unexpected joy this past year?

Finding out our oldest daughter is expecting a baby in 2011!

Our youngest daughter becoming an independent working woman, moving back to Atlanta, with a new job and supporting her own place. We are very proud!

4. What was an unexpected obstacle?

Physically for me, back to back recovery from lung surgery and a flu-like illness that put me back to bed. Not good when the incisions are still healing. It made for a very long recovery.

5. Pick three words to describe 2010.

Joy, anxiety, proud

I'll ride on joy and proud into 2011, and leave the anxiety back in the past!

new year News!!!

I guess I'm allowed to tell you now, since all the phone calls have been made and emails sent out... my Big new years News! If you read this post "blessings to share with you" then you know my oldest daughter is pregnant and due in May. Well, today we found out from the sonogram that the baby is a Boy! Oh boy, oh joy, another boy! Carter is the most excited of us all! He is so happy he'll have a little boy cousin to play with. As the proud grandma, I'm already calling them "the boys".
What fun lies ahead for us all!

Since finding out just this afternoon, we've already started looking at fabrics for the nursery. I love a good design project and what's more fun than a nursery! She wants the colors to be fairly neutral, with maybe a bit of gray or navy or yellow.

But now that we know boy, I was playing with a bit of baby blue too. There's a great user friendly site I found Carousel Designs that lets you custom design the bedding from the fabrics they offer. So much fun to play with and a great way to visualize the finished product!

I can't wait to get started helping to prepare the perfect nest for this new little one.

I hope your new year is looking as promising as mine. Wishing you all blessings of health, happiness and prosperity in 2011!

our rockin' New Years Eve

We did something this new years that we've never done... we got dressed up and went out! Our Club always has a New Years Eve Party, and this year a bunch of the Gal Pals decided we needed to all go and dance the night away. So.We.Did!
It was great fun, and all went by so fast... stationed buffet dinner, open bar-anything you want-all top shelf, DJ in one room, live band in the other, casino with play money-so much fun-since I couldn't lose anything-and actually won big, breakfast after midnight,
and old and new friends to share the
evening with!!!
It was a great way to ring in 2010
and ps... we plan on going next year too!
Cheers! Here's to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2010 for all!
