easy decoupaged Easter Eggs

I made these eggs last year from paper craft eggs and paper napkins
and have them on display now for Easter

I bought the paper eggs at Michaels, and first painted them white...
the next step is to cut out designs from some beautiful paper napkins,
and then...
lay the cutout on the egg and paint decoupage over them...
voila! so easy!
bea-u-ti-ful decorated eggs!
so easy and so pretty, you have to give it a try!

sewing a basket liner

This was Carter's first Easter, and as his grandmother... I had to give him a basket, right?! And of course I had to make a basket liner for it and embroider his name on it, right?!
(kinda like if you give a mouse a cookie)
And besides, it's so easy to do with my Brother...
I actually embroidered the name on the fabric first before sewing the liner. I positioned it to make sure it would be right side up when I turned it over the outside of the basket, and then pushed start and the machine stitched away. I followed these directions using my basket measurements, but instead of using elastic I used ribbon in the casing.
the finished result...
The adults received candy filled Tervis Tumblers
as their Easter present
See how thrilled he is with his basket and all his goodies!
now... what to craft next???

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on it's way...

Family is coming in tonight and tomorrow, so before life gets too busy, I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter and a wonderful holiday weekend with your loved ones.
We'll be baking & cooking, playing a little tennis & grilling out and just celebrating being together. Baby Carter will get to meet his great-Grammy Jane and his 2nd Cousins Rob and Steve for the first time. The weather will be picture perfect here in Atlanta and we plan to take full advantage of it! We are blessed indeed!
See y'all next week.

I did it, I made the decoupaged Easter eggs!

Remember the post I did on the Paper Napkin Decoupage Eggs? Well, I told you I'd re-post after I tried it so here it is! They came out great and were so easy, you have to try it too!

I decided to use Paper Mache Eggs that I purchased at Michael's rather than real blown out eggs. So I started by painting the brown paper eggs white with some sample paint I had left over. I did 2 coats.
The directions call for you to cut up pretty napkins and I think Caspari has the prettiest so I bought a couple Easter themed packs at Whole Foods. They're so bright and colorful.
You cut out your designs and peel away the outer printed part from the napkin liner.
Then you paint your egg with a bit of decoupage, apply the napkin design cut-out and paint over top of it. Be careful not to overwork it or the paper napkin will start to dissolve. I let it dry and then reapplied a second coat of decoupage.
Here's the finished result:
I made a dozen using all different cut out designs from the napkins.
They look like real eggs here don't they?
I just love their vintage look!

to all my Peeps... marshmallow that is!

Did you love Peeps as a kid?
When I was young, we had yellow chick Peeps, only chicks,
only yellow.

Now... you can get them in so many different colors and animal shapes for every holiday.
I like the pink bunnies for decorating cupcakes...

isn't this a cute idea for your Easter baking?!

Or how about these bunny cupcakes using regular marshmallows
cut and shaped like bunny ears!
The pink dyed sugar sticks to the gooey marshmallow center.

Carrots are a bit more of a "mature" theme to decorate your cupcakes, don't you think?

I'm lovin' these birds nests with candy eggs... I do love coconut!

And... a bit more complicated to decorate, but oh so adorable... pots of colorful flowers.

Perfect for your spring time celebrations! What are you baking for Easter this year?

linky love at NFF, join the fun!
