should children be guests at a wedding?

When they are this cute and well behaved... I say Yes! We went to a family friend's wedding this past weekend and there must have been 7 children under the age of 7 in attendance. I never heard one peep out of any of them during the ceremony. And then at the reception, they made it all that much more fun!

It was such a great weekend with all my kids and grandbabies together! We had so much fun hanging out all weekend and then also at the wedding itself. All the children at the wedding were so well behaved and fun to be with... and cute to boot! I was saying good bye to one little girl who was 3 and a half, and she asked me for a hug... what's more precious and heartwarming that that?!

No... I can't tell you what's inside, just in case the bride visits my blog, but it is something off her registry.
I found this cute basket while out shopping, then took a trip to my fave store Hobby Lobby to buy a piece of fabric to make a gift bag.
A little stitching, a little ribbon... and Voila!

a year ago...

Last year this week we were in Hilton Head celebrating the festivities leading up to my daughter's wedding. It was the best of times... when all the family, extended family and close friends were all together. We all truly enjoy each other and had a blast!
We had a beautiful sunny day for our Beach Olympics as you can see from these photos. The highlight was the "sponge relay" where we had to run down to the ocean, fill the sponge with water, run it back and squeeze the water into a cup, first team to fill it and dislodge a ping pong ball out the top was the winner. We had 3 teams and everyone gave it their all! We also had several rounds of beach bocce, water balloon toss and this ball on a string toss... what's it called game?

The Blue team, the Aqua team and the Yellow team...

all winners that day with good times as the prize!

We're headed up to the northeast to a family wedding at the end of the month. Here's what I'm thinking of wearing for the event... a rich shade of purple with touches of gold as an accent.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's not too freezing cold up there, or I may have to go with option 2, a dressy suit. But... on the other hand, I may be just fine with my occasional hot flashes to keep me warm. ;-)

Happy 80th

We're headed to Hilton Head Island this weekend to celebrate my Mom's 80th birthday! She says she doesn't feel 80 and she doesn't know who that wrinkled woman is looking back at her from the mirror. She plays tennis 3 times a week and is in all around good shape, thank goodness!
All her kids and most of her grandkids will be there with us at some point during the week to celebrate. We'll go to the beach, ride bikes, play tennis, golf, and beach bocce ball (a family favorite), cook together and even sing karaoke! I had these koozies made to add a bit of festivity to the occasion!

And... as her gift, we are all updating our family portraits that hang on her guestroom wall. Some of her pictures go back to our weddings, and others to when the kids were just little.
My family will give her this shot, from my daughter's wedding this past October.
