27 more holes today! I can't seem to stay away from the course when the weather is this pretty. Tomorrow is a tennis day... I'll just have to do my laundry and housework on Friday when the rain comes back.

lovin' this fall weather!

beach baby

I'm in love with this fabric:
It's available by the yard at Town Toiles

I love it for grand baby's beachy themed nursery. Imagine it in place of the blue & green toile pictured here, pairing it with the polka dots and stripes and the Minky chenille:
It would make the cutest crib bedding!

They also offer cute containers in matching fabrics (I'd use the wine bucket to hold diapers!), and... wallpaper, tote bags, towels, aprons... all sorts of items. You have to check them out!

beautiful weather ahead...

I golfed yesterday... 27 holes! 9 in the morning with 3 other Gal Pals of mine, and 18 in the afternoon with my husband. And... it was cart path only so you know I got my exercise! No record braking scores but no blow ups either. I started with a par and chipped in on the 2nd for a bogey. I was rather consistent. I had finally taken that lesson on chipping and I'm happy to say, the four times I found myself in a sand trap, I was out in one! Thanks Chip (our Pros name, funny huh)!
Fall arrived this week, although the temperatures and humidity here in Atlanta didn't know that. But tomorrow, after this rainy Saturday, a cold front is coming in. Hooray! Sunshine to dry out the flood soaked ground and cooler temps to play golf. I can't wait!
Fall is my favorite time of the year!

baby shower...

Planning ahead... thoughts of a baby shower for my grand baby! The momma-to-be thinks he's a boy, so it makes me think blue thoughts.
Here's a couple of cutie pie cake toppers I googled and found, aren't they adorable!

A friend of my daughter's just had a "gender revealing" to tell her parents if their grand-baby-to-be was a girl or a boy. The cutest thing was the pacifier napkin rings they set the table with. Isn't that a darling idea?!

weekend warriors

While Atlanta was experiencing record flooding from all the heavy rain we've had this past week, I was down in sunny Florida redecorating my daughter's house.
She picked me up at the airport and we spent the first day, Saturday, shopping for:
a bench for her foyer, a new rug for under the dining room table, fabric to reupholster her bar stools and dining room chairs, fabric to make curtains for the front window, and... more fabric for a little art project she had in mind for wall art. Oh... and choosing a paint color to paint the foyer and dining room, not always an easy task.

We decided to go with "crab apple" a taupe color by Ralph Lauren (bottom left above), and were very happy with the result!

We wanted to incorporate an earthy feel and hung these $4 square woven place mats on the dining room wall as art (from Pier 1).

Vern Yip's tip: repeat shapes in a space for continuity.

Here's the fabric we added to the chair cushions:

And the bar stools with their new green upholstery:

The foyer bench we found on clearance at Pier 1...

and the curtains we made out of tablecloths from Home Goods for $30. 85" tablecloths hung from a rod with rings and clips, no sewing needed!

The art work is made from a $16 sheet stretched onto plain white canvas. I love the geometric pattern, great idea Kris!

We also painted the previously white mirror black and added $6 worth of black knobs to this chest for a bit of detail.

I think the finished result looks fabulous! One day of hard core shopping and 2 days of painting, and reupholstering and... voila, 2 new rooms!
I had such a good time working with my daughter! And I must say... we're quite the painting duo!

a new blog for me!

With two blogs currently to keep up with, one personal and one for my wedding planner biz, I was still feeling the tug to venture into the creative world of design and color. I love the creativity that's possible with this blogging venue and can't seem to get enough of it! I admit, I'm like a frustrated graphic artist with no job to do or client to work for, so... you all can be my clients!
And now to introduce my latest project...

I love to make Inspiration board collages on my wedding blog, but I know that's a limited clientele, so now I'll make them of everyday things for everyday people.
As I wrote on my opening post...

"Color sets a mood and gives an artist unlimited means of expression. Color can be magical. Where composition and technique connects with our intellect, color touches our heart". -Suzie Short

I hope I can touch your heart and you enjoy visiting Hue New, and you come back often!

the real meaning of bi-partisanship

Americans against big government are protesting, Democrats and Republicans alike, fighting for their freedom. That's what 'tens of thousands' were doing on Saturday.
We the people... will be heard!

update: turns out the number of participants was originally a bit under reported by the media, as now they're saying 1-2 million people attended!

Robert Irvine's eat! ... and US Open tennis

While on HHI we ventured out to dinner on Tuesday evening for half price tapas and drinks. The locals always know where to go to get the best food & the best deal and this restaurant did not disappoint! Our table of 10 ordered various tapas appetizers, enough for a scrumptious & filling dinner, and drinks and desserts and the bill came to $150! Quite the night out for delicious food and such a deal ! (said with a yiddish accent)

After such a culinary delight we had to work off all the calories. You saw that piece of cake! We stayed active the entire week, and ended with a family tennis tournament. What fun and perfect timing for this week of US Open Tennis!

I'll be watching tonight's match and cheering for our own Georgia Peach!
go Melanie!

believe!
