road trip... playoffs: round 2

We're on to round 2 of the ladies ALTA playoffs for my team. We ended the season with a slightly lower point average from the team we're playing tomorrow, so that means going to them.

We're playing down at the Piedmont Driving Club, in the city of Atlanta, which at the moment is undergoing a major renovation. Too bad for us, as it is one of the nicest clubs in Atlanta, or it will be once again, when they're done.

It's next to the track of land where Piedmont Park is located and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.

The downside... driving down there with the morning traffic. The upside... I'm sure they will be very gracious hosts.
Wish us luck, I hope we kick their butts!

update: we're back home after losing this morning...
our #1, 2, and 3 positions all lost. My partner and I did start and were up 4-2, when the 3's finished. Our match was fun, we were playing great and I think we would have pulled out a win. We had a great season and have a bag tag to show for it!
Now, on to next week... and more time for golf !

Playoffs: round 1

We did it!

Our #1 and #2 positions both lost in very close 2 set matches... but our 3's , 4's and 5's all prevailed and took it in 2 sets for the match win and to move on to round 2 of the playoffs this Thursday.

Go team!!!

That's me today after getting elbowed in the eye last night by my husband. I woke up briefly during the night to look up and see his hands behind his head, elbows up. I didn't realize at the time why I had woken up... but this morning when I looked in the mirror I put 2 and 2 together. We sleep in a king size bed at home but were away and sleeping in a queen bed. Back to the king for me... for safety's sake!

Mystery Golf

What a gorgeous evening in Atlanta to golf! 90 golfers headed out for a shot gun scramble yesterday, many of the Gal Pals and their Guys in attendance. Here's my foursome:

You need to be way under par to win any of these scrambles and we did okay, but not good enough to place. What we did win though, was the "mystery golf" contest. We played 8 holes because of the course construction, and ended up with 4,3,3,3,2,3,3,3... quite the poker hand! And that's why we won the mystery prize, a 5 card poker hand made out of your scores, we had five 3's, and nobody beat that!

the power of prayer!

It's been a good week for sports for me, personal best golf score and ALTA team division winners yippee!, but that doesn't hold a candle to the good news I got yesterday when visiting my Oncologist! My CT scan from Tuesday, 2 years post sarcoma cancer surgery, came back clean, no recurrence. There was one tiny 3mm nodule in my lung they want to take another look at in 3 months, but no tumor at the original site. My Doc feels really good about the report and says I'm doing great!

division winners!

Today was our last regular match for the Spring 2009 Thursday Ladies season. My team, in first place with 27 points was playing the 2nd place team in our division coming into today with 25 points. Our 1's, 2's and 3's all went to 3 sets, but all lost in the third set. It came down to our 4's and 5's to win their matches to beat out our opponent, now 1 point ahead of us. My partner and I were determined and won in a 2nd set tie breaker! Our 5's (one of our girls actually twisted her ankle, iced it for the allotted 10 minutes and went back to playing) pulled out a win in the 3rd set, to make our team the division winner by 1 point! What an exciting season! Today felt like the playoffs, which btw we now head to next week, go team!

Wednesday is Gal Pal golf day. We tee'd off this morning at 10:00 am, off the back nine. The 11th hole is over the water and always gives me trouble, but today I parred it! Everything seemed to be working today, driving, fairway shots, chipping and putting. I was feelin' real good until the 14th hole when I hit my 2nd shot into the creek, then my 4th shot into the sand for a 9 for the hole, ouch! Back on track on the next hole I shot a bogey (over water), double bogey, birdie!, and bogey, to end up with a personal best, a 47! I've been trying to break 50 for the longest time and did it today, hoorah for me!

Thanks for letting me brag, it was a good day for golf!

Wednesday is Gal Pal day!

All went routinely well for my test this morning. My fave Radiology Tech Jaime was there to do my IV. She's been there for me for all 7 of my CT scans. She gave me a big hug when she saw me, isn't that great medical service?!

now... do I wait for the results until my doctor appointment Thursday afternoon, or... do I pick up the report asap at Medical Records?

Sweet or Unsweet?

how amazing is a hole in one?!

Last week, Masters week, after attending Wednesday's practice day and watching the Par 3 Challenge ... my husband got another big treat.
He took customers to East Lake for a round of golf (this was a first for him to be able to play there). What a week for him! While playing, in the foursome behind the BIG boss, one of my husband's customers got a Hole-in-One on the par 3, hole #6!
I just think a Hole-in-One is amazing... with all the variables in golf, for the ball to actually go-in-the-hole on your drive... WOW!Anyway, drinks for all back at the clubhouse where the club presented the customer with the #6 flag as a keepsake and will add his name to the Hole-in-One plaque... yeah!
But... the big news... this week, my husband found out that the BIG boss has decided to open it up for them to take customers there anytime, for the right opportunity of course.
I'm sure my husband will find the right opportunity!
